Media culpa catches Wente being sloppy again | #journalism

Media culpa: Margaret Wente, Math and Christianity: More factual/attribution errors?:

'via Blog this'

What's that? Wente being sloppy with numbers? Wente being shoddy and haphazard with attributions? I'm shocked. Shocked.

Maybe we should chill out a little, though. It's not as if she's writing about anything incendiary, like white people and brown people, or Christians and Muslims, or anything.

One really has to wonder what purpose the Globe thinks it's serving by running Wente's copy. It's certainly not serving the cause of accuracy or intelligent conversation.

Are stories unflattering to Harper being pulled from corporate-media websites?

The Sixth Estate, Dawg's BlogLorne at PAID and Dammit Janet (twice) have flagged this. If it's true, it just underlines what many of us have been saying about the Harper Regime's aggressively totalitarian character.

Really, doesn't the prospect of large media organizations engaging in self-censorship raise a few red flags? Isn't anyone just a little disturbed at the prospect of instant rewriting of history?
