On reproductive freedom, there is nothing to fucking 'debate'

The folks at Dammit Janet, the Dawgmeister and Dave over at TGB have already pointed it out, so I'm not going to go through it again. (You can stop the applause, smart-asses.)

I am not going to "debate" about the notion of fetal rights or when life begins or whether or not women have the right to control their own bodies. That's done. Anything that purports to "reopen" such a question needs to be seen for exactly what it is: a transparent attempt to reassert patriarchal control over women's sexuality and reproductive autonomy.

Anyone who wants to have that "conversation" can go fuck themselves. The idea that it could even be entertained in a forum billing itself as "progressive" just strips the word of its meaning.

  1. Most of this brouhaha unfolded, in the end, quite precipitously. My co-blogger fern hill has been in the frontlines of this confrontation with the managers of ProgBloggers simply because I have not been able to access PB from my 5 year old MacBook since its platform was changed.

Thus I read selected, admired colleagues like Orwell's Bastard and Alison at Creekside because I subscribe to their feed on Blogger. Others I follow via Twitter.

Last week I heard indirectly about Gordie's expressed advocacy for a "public debate" on choice and abortion rights, as framed by the CONtempt Party.

Anyhoo, it's all water under the bridge now and while Gordie seems excited about the pissing match he's engaged, DAMMIT JANET! is gone from BlogProgs.

I just wanted to express here my appreciation for the support we've been getting from our Support Bros'

  2. Asked Scott to remove me today after this whole incident. Amazing how he still defends his "trivial" comment. He called me a distorter but it's plain to see how he views this issue.
My father told me ages ago to mean what you say and say what you mean. Scott would do well to learn from this.
